New Photos of Anthony Lister's Work

Yesterday, I was out with the family and on the way home, Mum, Dad and I dropped in on the mural over near Keperra that Anthony Lister has been working on. It was just past 11pm and Mum and I were curious as to what he had added since Christmas; as he took some time off to celebrate and
take a break.

Well, it looks great; and I love it. Must apologise about the cars being in the way; couldn't do anything about that; but I can't wait until it's finished. What do you guys think? Feel free to leave a comment and let us all know.

North Side Outsider Art

For the last six months or so, Mum and I have been driving past a wall on the way to my brother's house. Now, it had some great artwork on it by an artist going by the name of Lister.

I just Googled his name and came up with Anthony Lister from New York who has been here in Australia doing some outsider art around Brisbane; and not getting very far with it. On his official site I have found more of his art which was removed from Fortitude Valley here in Brisbane; and when I've brought up the photos of the wall mural I took on Christmas Day, I compared the style to the work on his site and found so many similarities.

The last piece of work ( http://365project.org/loey5150/365/2010-08-13) called Mural, was demolished when a building was pulled down. Fortunately, my Mum took a photo of it and showed me. We both thought it looked wicked. And this new work looks even better! Let's hope it stays longer than the wall did.

Paintings, Yarn Bombing, Outsider Work and Other Interesting Things

Hi there and welcome to used to be 'A Natural Background' and is now 'Crafty Pegs'. This is an art blog which I hope will pique your interest in many diverse areas in the art world. I've opened a small hobby business which has spilled over into Facebook and onto my website - which you will find on the sidebar.

I'm a volunteer at the Logan Art Gallery and have been there for almost 20 years; so I have seen many different styles of art come through its doors, met some great artists and a few collectors as well. However, I'm also an artist in my spare time. I use acrylic paints and have been attempting to find my style for the past few years.

Not only will you see my work up here on my blog (through links I put up inside the blogs themselves), but you will also see links to photos of outsider work which is not my own. This work is from around Logan City and Brisbane. Some of it is little more than graffiti while others will be public murals and great works of art by some community groups.

I hope to keep you up-to-date with other artists such as Anthony Lister and Chris Trotter. So, please enjoy this little blog... peruse and comment and please do follow; as you never know what I may find out there to put up here.
